Monday Made It~Glue Sponges

I haven't linked up with Tara for a Monday Made It post in awhile, but I was out shopping this weekend and picked up some supplies to make...GLUE SPONGES!  You may have seen these on Kindergarten Smorgasbord and whatever Greg is doing you know is a good thing, so I have jumped on the glue sponges bandwagon.
The containers, glue, and sponges can be found almost anywhere!  Target is my go to for almost everything!

This process is easy and will save you the headache of clogged glue bottles!
Pour some of the glue onto the bottom of the container.  Spread the glue all over the bottom.
I bought a pack of 6 sponges so I could cut the extras in half to cover more of the container.
Pour the extra glue onto the top of the sponges!

Cover and let it sit for a about a week to let it soak into the sponges.
Your kiddos will then dab the paper they are gluing onto the sponge to get their glue instead of using a billion glue sticks or clogged glue bottles!

Have you used glue sponges before!?

  1. I just might have to jump on this bandwagon too! My fourth graders last year went through so much glue putting together our fabulous interactive notebooks. It did not seem to matter how many "glueing lessons" I gave, they still put WAY too much glue.

    1. I agree! No matter what there was way too much glue every time!

  2. I might have to try this as well - we use a lot of glue. how many times do you need to re-fill them?

    1. I haven't used them for a full year, but if you spray water on them (to keep them moist) and add a little glue when needed they will last the whole year.

  4. I used them this past year. They worked on some projects, not on others. The glue definitely needs to be soaked into the sponge. (Found that out the hard way) Sometimes enough glue just wouldn't get on the paper. Also, their fingers do get messy. I will attempt it again this year because I can't stand stuck glue bottles and we go through glue sticks like water :)
