Issy Books!

Have you heard of Issy books?!  I have seen them on other's blogs and wanted to know what they were all about!  I was lucky enough to get a set sent to me to review.  Wow!  They are GREAT!  The first thing I did when I introduced these books was tell my kinders that the illustrator of these books was 5 years old!  All of their eyes got wide and a few called out "I'm five!"  They were instantly hooked!  We read "Meet Issy" first so they could learn about her more and all of a sudden Issy was everyone's friend and they "knew" her in real life.  I can't express enough how motivated my kiddos were to read the Issy books.  They absolutely loved turning the book over and looking at Issy and her grandma's picture on the back.  They could not believe she was just like them and helped make these books!
Each page has an adorable picture created by Issy and a simple sentence.  Which means everyone in my class could read these books!

We actually are learning about reptiles in science, so we read "Lizzie the Lizard"!  After we were done, everyone was excited to write and draw about their own lizard!  When my kiddos are excited to read AND write, you know you have something good!  These books are SO good! :)

Even during Daily 5 I had more kiddos than I ever do choosing Read to Self and Read to Someone!
We were sent the 10 book pack plus a free "Meet Issy" book and all of these books came in a perfect carrying case!
The first thing my kiddos wanted to do after I told them Issy and her grandma sent us books was for me to tell them "Thank you", so Issy books-THANK YOU!  We loved them and believe every child who gets the opportunity to read them will love them too!
