Five for Friday

I started this post of Friday but ran out of time to finish!
Friday!  Yes!  I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!!

 1.  We are doing subtraction in math the next few weeks!  One of our activities that my kiddos LOVED was subtracting with beads!  We started off our activity with watching 5 Little Monkeys and retold the story using our beads!

2. We "caught" our leprechaun yesterday!  Well, kind of!  He left us his gold and some special stickers with a note telling us we couldn't catch him and that as much fun as he had messing around with our room he had to get to leave because Spring is on its way and he needs to protect his gold at the end of the rainbow!
3. The beginning of the week we wrote about our sneaky leprechaun, Shamrock.  My kiddos were so excited they got to make their paper look like a leprechuan.

4.  Tuesday was my birthday and one of my favorite gifts were these PINK shoes!! I needed a new pair of workout shoes BAD, so these were PERFECT!!:)

5. Omg so random and another non school related thing about my week, but Thursday I got this call saying I had won a trip to FL!  The hubs and I were at this expo last weekend and entered to win.  They had called me the day before but I didn't pick up the phone.  As this guy is telling me what I won I am googling all about this "company"!  Let's just say it was half a scam!  You have to pay $500 to get the trip but find your way down there.  Once you are there they put you in really cheap and run down hotels.  They make you go on a "tour" where they pressure you to buy a timeshare and threaten you that you will have to pay full price for your trip if you don't!  Omg it was the craziest thing ever!  Half way through the phone call I hung up and they called back and I had the hubs just talk to them.  Note to self-never sign up for free trips. After I signed up, I had a feeling this was a big scam...lesson learned! :)

Now go link up!

  1. I love your pink shoes!! When school started I was walking 3 miles a day (I did a 5k the weekend before school started.... SLOW... but I did it), and I have not had time at all this school year (the joys of being a first year teacher)but yesterday was the magic day and I started walking again! :) Love your shoes....

  2. Did you have your students make leprechaun traps? I have never had my students do that, but I've wanted to! I didn't have any leprechauns come to my classroom either. Maybe next year- it looks like fun!

    1. We made one as a class! The kids loved having a leprechaun visiting our classrooms making messes and leaving little gifts for them! I would definitely do it next year!

  4. Oh what a good idea to use 5 Little Monkeys to talk about subtraction. So simple, but I bet it is effective to get their little minds thinking like that! I read Pete the Cat & His Four Groovy Buttons the other day just for fun and that would be another great book to introduce subtraction! We are getting ready to start that skill soon! :)

  5. I love your subtraction idea with beads. I use old zippers. I write a number line on the zipper and they can zip up and zip back for counting on and counting back!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I am your newest follower.

  8. I'm loving your pink shoes!! I popped over from Doodle Bugs Friday Five Linky...I didn't link up until Sunday -- Fridays and Saturdays always seem to be sooo busy! I think I need to start thinking about the Friday link-up on Wednesday. :)
