New Year Celebration Sensory Bin

Is it ever too early to plan ahead?  We made the best sensory bin and it even included the kiddos to complete!

I started by grabbing some silver garland and ribbon for Dollar Tree.
I was originally hoping to use tinsel, but I didn't find it until I was walking out of the store.  BUT I think the garland really fills the bin better!

I had the kiddos cut the garland and ribbon up.  I put it in a big bin to begin with so we had enough space for all our supplies.

Then, I used all our cut up materials and added it to our sensory table!
I added some magnetic numbers and this counting mat/worksheet!  Grab it HERE!

Next, we searched through our New Year's celebration mix to find the numbers.  We matched each number to our mat.  You could also trace or color!

We counted backwards just like we will do on New Year's Eve!  Well, we most likely will all be in bed by that time, but we will do it before bed ;)!

This is a great number matching and backwards counting activity to have set up for that first week back at school or at home!
